Being patient with your credit score

Massive credit score changes don’t usually happen overnight. This can be especially frustrating if you’re just starting out. If you’re really early in the process, you might not be able to see your score at all. Don’t worry, this is completely normal. Just keep being responsible with your money, enable autopay if you haven’t already, and spend like you normally would. You score will follow, even if it isn’t immediate.

If you can see your score and you’re not happy with it (yet), try not to stress too much either. Building credit takes time, which is why building your score while you’re in college is so important. If you wait too long, you might find yourself in a position where you need credit and don’t have it - and that’s not where you want to be.

Your credit score is going to fluctuate every month. But you should know that if you keep spending responsibly and don’t miss any payments, you’re almost certainly going to see your score trend in a positive direction. Every month that passes adds to your average age of accounts, which is a huge help to your score. And provided you don’t miss payments (which is pretty hard to do with Fizz), you should be in the good or even excellent range within a year or two.

Remember: building credit doesn’t happen overnight, so be patient. Your Fizz card can help you get to where you want to be.
